An emergency response team set up to help people in need across the Stockton area has been awarded £1,000 from a community fund.
Persimmon Homes Teesside has donated the cash to the British Red Cross in Stockton to support its Emergency Response service from its Community Champions fund.
Margaret Musgrave, who made the successful application on behalf of the British Red Cross, said: “This year the UK Emergency Response Teams have been more in the news than ever offering support and help to people affected by a number of traumatic incidents from floods to fires.
“But after an emergency what happens when the fire services, the ambulance crews and the police have left? Where do you go? The Red Cross works in partnership with the emergency services to bring relief, comfort and hope to people in the moments immediately following an emergency.
“Across Stockton, 24-hours-a-day, 365-days-a-year, our dedicated volunteers are on call ready to respond to the next emergency and we have set ourselves the target of raising £4,000 for the area team.
“This generous donation will go a long way towards achieving that total and we are grateful for the support.”
Joan Peart, head of sales for Persimmon Homes Teesside, said: “The support offered by the British Red Cross to people in times of crisis is invaluable. They are to offer practical and emotional help when people are in the worst imaginable circumstances and we are only too pleased to be able to support such a worthy cause.”
She added: “We always receive so many applications for our Community Champions initiative. I really encourage any charities and groups looking for funding to apply to the scheme for their chance to receive up to £1000 match-funding for their own cause.”
