Town Centre Improvement Survey
The first stage of the distinct darlington BID process was the Darlington Town Centre Improvement Survey (now closed), where businesses in the BID Area were invited to give their views.
Following the Summer 2010 survey, and Autumn business sector meetings, face to face business consultations took place in January and February 2012. The views of all of these businesses which were engaged with have gone into the production of the BID Business Plan. All business which were eligible to vote on the proposal received their copy of the Business Plan in February 2012 and had until 5pm on 30th March 2012 to cast their vote.
The YES vote for Darlington Town Centre to become a Business Improvement District was declared on 2nd April 2012.
"As an office-based business in Darlington Town Centre, we can see the clear benefits that a BID will bring to our company. For an affordable contribution, the collective budget that will be available will enable us to benefit from additional town centre initiatives, such as enhanced street cleaning schemes and savings generated through collective buying that we simply could not afford on a stand alone basis".
